The Man in the Woman‘s Shoes by Mikel Murfi being adapted for the screen by Kevin Cahill under Screen Ireland’s Feature Film Development Scheme

Pat Farnon is a mute cobbler who lives alone in a small rural cottage. Pat can communicate well with animals but not people. He lives alone and is content with his happy quiet life. Pat has to deliver shoes to Kitsy Rainey the manager of the local football team. Pat lights up when he talks about Kitsy. In order to break in the shoes for Kitsy, Pat wears them on his 5 mile walk to town. Along the way Pat encounters various colourful characters of the town like Jimmy The Wind, Nelly Cotter a boy racer trapped in the body of an 80 year old woman and his best friend Huby Patterson. Pat delivers the shoes to Kitsy before a football match. After the match Kitsy surprises Pat by asking him to marry her. Pat considers the proposal at home that evening. He decides to disturb his quiet life to marry the woman he loves.

The Man in the Woman’s Shoes is listed for development in the Screen Ireland ,2021 first quarter decisions here.
